Annabel Hoyng - van der Meijden

What I do

I advise organisations - including museums, galleries, foundations, educational institutions and creative businesses - on strategic communications and partnerships, with a focus on strategy development, brand positioning, narrative development, advocacy and reputation management.

My work centres on helping organisations define their voice, strengthen reputation and build visibility through media and external affairs, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement.

I also support the development of philanthropic and creative partnerships that drive growth and cultural impact, including private philanthropy and fundraising, working with both cultural organisations and brands to build meaningful partnerships.

Annabel Hoyng Consulting can support you on:

I partner with organisations in the way that best suits their needs - whether acting as an independent advisor, a sounding board for senior leadership, or a member of your team.

I provide both high-level counsel and hands-on execution, and am available for project-based commissions or long-term interim roles.

My approach is structured, collaborative, and grounded in years of experience across global communications agencies and advisory firms, and a deep understanding of the cultural sector.

Who I Am

I’m Annabel Hoyng - van der Meijden (also known as Annabel Hoyng), a London-based communications and public affairs specialist with extensive international experience in the arts, culture and non-profit sectors.

Spanning roles in both in-house and advisory environments, I am passionate about helping organisations advocate for the causes they believe in - building reputations, increasing share of voice, supporting growth and generating change.

While I have worked across multiple sectors, I specialise in the arts, culture and the creative industries. Driven by a belief in the power of culture to drive positive change, I founded Annabel Hoyng Consulting.

Previously, I served as Head of Media & External Affairs at Art Fund and held roles at leading global communications and advisory firms including Brunswick Group, Pelham Communications and Burson-Marsteller. My portfolio includes work with museums, galleries, not-for-profits, government bodies and commercial brands internationally.

I began my career as a trained solicitor, which continues to inform my analytical approach. I hold an MA in European Law from the University of Utrecht and an MA in Fashion Curation & Cultural Programming from London College of Fashion.

Alongside my consultancy practice, l serve as a Governor at a London primary school, where I lead on inclusion.
